When counting the electoral votes, either Congress finds by 1/8/09 that Obama, not being an Article II “natural born citizen”, fails to qualify as President whereupon Biden becomes the full fledged President under 3 USC 19 (free to pick his own VP such as Hillary) or thereafter defers to the Supreme Court to enjoin Obama’s inauguration with Biden becoming only Acting President under the 20th Amendment until a new President is duly determined.

The preferable choice, at least for the Democrats, should seem obvious.

Dear Martin,
I heard the good work you are doing (on our radio station KNRS 570) and the people who are trying to have you removed. Please do not give up the right thing to do!!!! Our country needs more brave and honorable people like you. The majority of the country know you are trying to do what is needed to get out of this situation. Please don’t let Obama make a choice for your voice!

We are slowing loosing ALL of our rights. Our country is the land of the “FREE” and it took many lives of righteous and brave people to make it possible. We need to speak up and be proud of who we are. We shouldn’t be deprived of our God given rights, and we can’t be discourage and brow beaten by people who are greedy, dishonest, bullies, and people who don’t like our country. They really should go to the counties that have the ideals they want and leave this country alone!!!! Why fight for something and go through all the warfare that will be coming, if you can get it some place else?
Our Father in Heaven is in charge and He will see us through this. These people might prevail for a time, but they will be destroyed. People like this always are.

Wow...until recently, I had viewed Obama as a rather "benign" presence in this election; that is to say that I had largely viewed him as a racial uniter as opposed to divider.

I also viewed Michelle Obama's "proud of my country for the first time" statement as a basic slipup from a relative political neophyte.

But, throw the Good Rev Wright into the mix, as well as Obama's recent statement regarding "small-town mentality", and I believe that there is an unmistakable pattern of divisiveness from the Obamas.

In a way, it's too bad, as I also felt that anyone who was bringing the nation's youth into the political process was fine by me; however, it now occurs to me that Hitler also incorporated the Youth of Germany (capitalization intended) into his political program (or is it "pogrom"). And, lest anyone accuse me of being "over the top", let me remind all that Wright's message of diviseness echos...in small part...the Nuremberg Laws.

Hmmm...I'm a forensic psychiatrist, and I've never heard of this "top psychiatrist." But I know of another psychiatrist, a politically conservative one at that, who reviewed "Liberalism Is a Mental Disease" by Michael Savage.

To quote him, "I approached this book with some trepidation for two reasons. First, the attempt to tar political positions with the brush of mental illness has a long and sorry history. For example, the highly influential 1950 book 'The Authoritarian Personality'
was a clearly politicized attempt to label people who embrace traditional values as closeted Nazis. The former Soviet Union is
well known to have labeled as mentally ill and 'hospitalized' dissidents to silence and discredit them."

A few sentences later he writes, "In the case of dueling political charges of mental illness, the alleged mental illness is, like beauty, in the eye of the beholder—and is generally not one of the legitimate diagnosable mental conditions."

Well, I consider myself somewhat of a liberal, so I felt it necessary to quote a neoconservative psychiatrist who has also written on the topic. That way I can defend my sanity from "expert" opinions.

Saying liberalism is a mental disease might sell books, but it is far removed from reality. In psychiatry we might call such a fixed belief "delusional."

As unlikely as I believe the possibility of a McCain / Lieberman ticket, I would not oppose it. And this simply for the fact that it would be more likely that Congress would be able to get past the petty partisanship that has become pervasive. Not likely with Billary and a slight possibility with Obama.

Most extreme conservatives seem to think that they are the base of the Republican party, and perhaps they are. However, the more moderate and less vocal members of the party may just as easily have become that base. Moderate conservatives are not liberals, socialists, or communists just conservatives with a viewpoint that does not coincide with the extremists. What is important is that they believe in many of the same concepts, just not the extents.

In any case, if the extreme conservatives stay away from the presidential elections then they will reap what they have sown. Their voice may just become marginalized, or worse just something to be heard as as an alternative to a sitcom.

Right on...I know I seem like i agree with everything you say on the show, haha..but what you've been saying about the primaries and elections all ring true, and many agree... I'm pretty sick of the high and mighty money, and fame driven government we have today. They're totally trying to pull the wool over our eyes to rig the elections so those few can "win the bid", so to say. We need to stand up, make a difference, and not take this anymore. Too bad they tackle everything with lawyers, and make what should have been our basic understandable laws so mysterious and intricate they can do whatever they want...

I ditto your comments on lapsing with the Republican registration. I have been active in the party since my teens, I am nearly fifty now. I feel like its all a bad dream and soon I will wake.

The GOP has forgotten conservatism, sold out to the radical right and frankly become not neo-con but neo-nazi in their hate speech towards immigrants of all countries, but mostly the southern border.

You are correct Jefferson wrote about "rule of law" in terms of restraining government from putting undue regulation on the populace not enforcing every rule they could think up.

You can’t be serious. Learn some history. The caliphate started in Medina in 632 AD after Muhammad’s death. The very last and most recent caliphate which was the Ottoman Empire (Last caliph was Abdul Mejid II ) collapsed in 1918 in the aftermath of World War I. Your comment on living behind the wall but supporting one being built here shocks me. As you know the Wall keeps people in just as well as keeping people out. If you believe in true conservative ideals this Wall idea should be anathma to you.

The most popular current buzz word on the campaign trail is “Rule of Law”. The party line and overshadowing issue has become America is under siege by a flood of foreigners who we are encouraged to believe are a threat to our security and sovereignty.

This did not work out well in the last election but the GOP clings to this strategy because radio talk show hosts and the new GOP Chairman Lou Dobbs have made this decision on their behalf.

Q. What is the penalty for Business owners who entice workers to violate federal immigration law, labor laws, and reporting regulations?

A. Possible fine and a stern talking to.

Q. What is the penalty for a foreign worker without proper authorization?

A. Apprehension, indefinite detainment (in a remotely located detention facility owned by a Haliburton Subsidiary), Deportation and a 10 year or permanent exile from the United States. Some detainees die as a result of denial of medication necessary to sustain life such as Insulin for diabetics or statins for heart patients. Mixed status US Citizen families suffer separations from loved ones more severe for this civil infraction than robbers, murderers and rapists.

You are correct a punishment that fits the crime is appropriate, but bloodthirsty psycho Christian Right xenophobes have overtaken the Republican Party. Forgiveness in the true Christian sense is not in their vocabulary. Mixed status US Citizen families are not a concern to the "pro-family" hypocrites either.
